Off to Bologna!
I’m heading to Bologna next week for the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) symposium on Monday, followed by the Bologna children’s book fair. I first went to the book fair two years ago. It’s such an incredible sight – just about every children’s publisher in the world, all in the same place.
I’ll be presenting a showcase of work by SCBWI members in the Netherlands at the SCBWI stand (Hall 26, Stand A66) on Thursday afternoon. Another highlight of the week will be the live broadcast of the announcement of the winners of the Hans Christian Andersen Award and the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award 2010. I know who I’m crossing my fingers for…
Check out Cynthia Leitich Smith’s blog Cynsations for some fascinating interviews with the writers, illustrators and publishing professionals who are guests at the SCBWI symposium next Monday. I carried out some of the interviews and I was amazed by the helpful and generous tips that the interviewees sent. Definitely worth a read!
My interviews with:
Illustrator John Shelley
Author/illustrator Doug Cushman
Author Ellen Hopkins
